Professional Transmission Service

Here are some of the things my customers have said about my service.

Phillip Nelson of Tampa writes:

"Within a month after having a retired GM transmission repairman rebuild and install a 700R4 transmission in my 57 Chevy it was shifting very rough, making strange noises, and leaking fluid.  Fortunately, I picked up a business card from Kevin at the old Pine Grove car show on Florida Avenue and decided to take my car to his shop where he completely rebuilt it properly.  Six months later, the transmission still performs flawlessly.  Service was fast, and the price was reasonable.  I do not hesitate to recommend his shop."

I lost my reverse on my mini-van and I found this Transmission shop on Angie's list, the two factors important to me was that it was very highly rated and that it was fairly close to my home. I called and made appointment with owner Kevin, who was very nice to work with. He was able to take my car immediately, and he as courtesy he drove me home. The next day he tore my transmission apart and found the gears had burned out inside the transmission, due to a leak of fluid that had been there long time. He told me he could fix it for $1,500 which is about 1/2 what a regular auto dealer would charge. Plus he gave me a 2 year warranty on parts & labor. He also had it ready in just 2 days. The owner was also nice enough to drive me back to airport to return my rental car, and he even tried to pop out a small dent in my rear door! I would absolutely recommend this shop to anyone with any type of transmission question or problem. His work was done fast, and quality, and done on time when he said it would be ready!

Stu Taylor of Land O' Lakes writes:

"I have known Kevin Owens for well over 15 years.  In all that time I have never met anyone who knows his way around the inside of an automobile to the extent that he does, but especially regarding transmissions and knowing exactly what it takes to resurrect an ordinary V8 (that one could drag out of any given auto graveyard and is ready for nothing more than to be scrapped and melted) into to a vintage, high-performance power plant that will now be leagues beyond what was stock when it was made, and is also as ascetically pleasing as it is viable.  In other words, if you are looking for someone who has those rare, sought after qualities such as that good ol' fashioned work ethic and general sense of pride in his craft, he's the man.

"In all my years of knowing him I have never had one single repair ever have to go back so he can 'try and get it right.'  It's always been 'right' right after he was done the first time.  If it can't (reasonably) be done, he won't try (and just waste his time and your money).  But if it can, you will find very few to none out there that will handle your vehicle with the same precision and complete attention to detail as he, as if your car were a priceless classic that he, himself owned!

"Even a normal transmission rebuild gets a better-than-factory result because when he goes through it he corrects problems on things that even the designers dropped the ball on.  He may not be the cheapest, although most of the time he is, the job is priced by the parts and labor to do the job, not how much someone looks like they can spend.

"But more importantly, you wont get it 'more right' than him.  To get a job in most of these other shops around town, all you need to have is a set of tools.  Remember, in the auto repair industry, just because you can pay someone more, doesn't necessarily mean you will get more.  If you do, you may just be paying more for more problems..."
