Update
Recently I have seen muffler and brake facilities starting to advertise transmission repair service. This is absolutely HILARIOUS! Today's transmissions are extremely hi-tech and very complicated. Taking your car to a muffler shop to get your transmission repaired is like going to a plumber for brain surgery!! I can't stop laughing!!
Here's the deal: If you need transmission repair, you have only three options:
1) Install a factory-remanufactured unit from a dealer, which is usually cost prohibitive, or -
2) Roll the dice and get one from a junk/salvage yard. Many vehicles are front wheel drive and require an extensive amount of work just to remove and reinstall the transmission. That fee generally runs around $500, but can go higher depending upon the make and model of vehicle. If the junk yard unit fails, you are back to "square-one" and you will be charged again to remove and install another unit. You certainly won't be "saving" any money that way, or -
3) Have me rebuild the unit using high-quality parts and
aftermarket shift-improvement kits that recalibrate the valve
body to clean up the sloppy factory shifts and greatly increase
the life of the unit over the factory remanufactured units.
If you feel that your transmission does need repair, stop in and
I will gladly show you some shift-kit
papers, that show what these aftermarket kits will do for your
transmission. You will FEEL THE QUALITY, and KNOW that the
job was done to perfection! Also keep in mind that my
facility has ZERO failures on repairs, and I have seen my
rebuilds last in excess of 12 years without any runs, drips, or
errors.
So here's the bottom line: Visit my vehicle service
section and service your vehicle accordingly. Nearly every
transmission job that comes into my shop is a result of the
transmission never being serviced,
NOT EVEN ONCE! That's NOT going to cut it if you want your
vehicle to last. Regular servicing of your transmission
will greatly increase its lifespan, but be warned about
shortcuts that some shops take in order to increase their bottom
line, at the expense of YOUR valued investment. For
example, NEVER have your Transmission "flushed!" Flushing
a transmission requires a machine that supposedly removes all of
your fluid. This procedure is a LAZY method of changing
the fluid in your transmission. When an inferior shop
hooks that flushing machine to your transmission, they are NOT
taking the pan down and changing the filter!! How stupid
does that sound? I can't tell you how many transmissions I
have rebuilt within weeks of the owner having it "flushed."
That is like changing the oil in your engine and not changing
the filter. Then they generally pump regular Dexron fluid
back into the transmission, and nearly ALL Automatics these days
REQUIRE THEIR OWN SPECIAL FLUID!!! Introducing the
improper fluid into the transmission WILL result in Transmission
failure!
So, you can pick up the phone and call every single shop in the
state of Florida. Call Alaska... Call Haiti...
Call Cuba.... Call Mexico... Call Antarctica or
Ecuador. Call ANY shop you want to call! When you're
ready for all the correct answers and results, call 813-964-0852
and be done with it. Be sure to send the link to this
website to everyone you know. You will be doing them a big
favor...
